As an Activities Director, this individual will be responsible for developing and administering a comprehensive activity’s program to meet the interests and capabilities of our residents. This individual will develop and administer a well-rounded community-wide social program schedule as well as plan, implement and monitor recreation programs to meet the specific needs of each and all residents. Number one responsibility is to ensure residents' lives are maintained to the fullest extent possible by providing activities and contacts with the community. Essential Job Duties Coordinate all resident activities in and outside of the community and have an understanding and sensitivity to the needs of seniors. Plans, develops and implements resident lifestyle programming within the community as well as through outside trips and events. Be responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of a successful activity program. Maintain appropriate facility documentation as it relates to the Activity Department. Documents and maintains all records as required to effectively manage the department. Instruct, guide, and coach Volunteers in ways to conduct activities listed on the calendar, as well as how to supplement the schedule with spontaneous activities. Surveys and interviews residents to determine their past and present interests and talents, as well as their satisfaction with the community's programs and activities. Recognizes the individuality, diversity, and spirituality of all residents when planning activities and celebrating holiday functions Develops relationships with residents to encourage their participation in activities that enhance their quality of and appreciation for life. Observes residents function and behavior and reports significant changes or concerns to appropriate staff. Performs work tasks in a manner that preserves each resident's dignity, privacy and confidentiality Utilizes outside community resources and independent contractors to enrich the variety of programs made available to residents. Secures and maintains all department supplies and equipment. Develops and distributes the resident newsletter/calendar and other lifestyle programming communications on a regular and monthly basis. Other duties as assigned. Associates degree from a two-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Activity Certification preferred but will consider others with activity experience Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational and time management skills are required. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization, as well as effectively communicate in English and understand/follow written/oral instructions required. State driver’s license required to transport individual with good driving record. Must enjoy working with the elderly. Ability to work in a team environment Able to lift a minimum of 25 to 75 lbs. Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication in English Maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment. Ability to work weekends, holidays and a flexible schedule Skills Strong strategic, analytical, and creative thinking skills are required. Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse group of people. Strong presentation skills, as well as solid verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Project management skills and an ability to multi-task and prioritize frequently changing needs. Ability to demonstrate good judgment and discretion. Work as a team player with Team Members at all levels. Self-starter and positive personality. Sensitive to confidential information.
